Sr. Manager IT - UX and UI Development

Omaha, NE

Articulate technical leader and change agent needed to manage a matrixed team comprised of UX specialists, analysts, and front-end developers in Omaha, NE. Your team works as an internal user experience consulting agency. Your primary focus is to oversee and influence all aspects of research, design, development and delivery while championing innovative ideas and quality user experience. This position works closely with the UX Architect, the UI Architect, and will serve as a strategic liaison across IT and business teams. You possess strong foundational understanding of user experience principles, basic web principles, and cross platform/browser compatibility. Along with technical leadership skills, you possess the ability to articulate goals and opportunities for improvement at all levels of the organization and in a variety of mediums. You ensure the team provides quality solutions and provide the necessary leadership to deliver releases on time and on budget.  You have strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with technical writing and translating complex concepts into client-friendly documents and dynamic presentations.


Core Responsibilities:

·         Manage, mentor, recruit, develop, and grow a team of UX specialists and UI developers

·         Drive results using matrix project management and negotiate project milestones, schedules and budgets with many internal clients

·         Excellent analytical and problem solving skills combined with the ability to effectively estimate project scope, identify risks, evaluate timing and communicate timely updates

·         Provide oversight to ensure adequate focus on stability, scalability, performance and quality during design and development decisions

·         Identify and remove roadblocks for your team and foster change

·         Interact with business stakeholders to identify and define vision for product development

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. When working with designers and developers you intrinsically understand their pain points and requirements, and motivate them to create exceptional work. When working with management and stakeholders you can code switch to speak their language to sell the value and excellence of the team and its accomplishments

·         Stay current with the newest technologies; research new technologies and make recommendations on implementations

·         Partner with cross functional teams, including customer areas to understand requirements and design solutions

·         Evangelize the importance of holistic user experience


The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

·         Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field. Strong applicable experience (minimum of 10 years in the field of Information Technology or User Experience) may be taken into account in lieu of a degree

·         7+ years experience working through the design, development, release cycle, and delivering software products to market

·         2+ years experience managing teams and people

·         Experience managing budgets, timelines, and creative and presentation layer development based projects while working across several departments

·         Experience working with cross-functional teams in large, distributed systems

·         Ability to engage, excite, negotiate, and communicate with all levels of the company

·         Able to manage conflict, create camaraderie, and build team character

·         Unrelenting passion for excellent user experiences



·         3+ years as a technical lead in a web development environment

·         3+ years as a user experience designer or researcher

·         3+ years as an analyst working in system design

·         Working knowledge of Angular 2 and HTML5

·         Experience with various software development methodologies, including Agile

·         Good understanding of responsive design techniques

·         Demonstrated understanding of a mobile-first approach
