QA Test Automation Engineer
Omaha, NE
Direct hire - Candidates must be eligible to work in the US on a W2 basis without sponsorship or visa transfer
The primary responsibility of this position is to design, build, test and deploy effective test automation solutions. This position will build and maintain an effective test automation framework, integrating all test automation scripts and technologies. They will execute test automation scripts, analyze results and update appropriate test documentation and test control systems.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain automation scripts for new and existing tests within the Operations Testing area of client (may perform desktop, functional, software performance, load and mobile application testing)
- Execute automated tests and validate the results, documenting problems and test results
- Provides estimated labor and determine product delivery schedules
- Creates and maintains test plans and strategies
- Manual testing may be expected depending on project needs and existing automation
- Creates test cases, test data and test procedures and raises concerns through appropriate channels, as needed, to facilitate a quality implementation
- Coordinates all test activities in a team environment to drive towards a successful project delivery and meet agreed upon milestones
- Work with peers in Development, Program Management and other stakeholder to plan & prioritize the test strategy to ensure timely delivery of high quality products
- Design and develop test plans and test cases to ensure and gauge product quality, while effectively minimizing manual testing and leading to more effective code coverage
- Perform Debugging and Root Cause Analysis of product failures and anomalies
- Design and develop test automation tools & procedures for your feature area
- Identify and adopt new testing methodologies, best practices and tools from appropriate sources, to improve test coverage
- Research new tools and technologies and recommend ways to implement them into new test strategies
- Assists in solving operating problems
- Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or MIS
- 5+ years experience in software design & development or testing
- Experience with browser UI and API test automation tools (Test Complete, Selenium, SOAPUI, UFT)
- Ability to troubleshoot and update automated scripts using data driven and keyword driven methodologies
- Experience within the .NET framework, particularly within C# development
- Proficient managing quality work in a fast-paced and Agile development environment
- Ability to develop automated test cases from manual test scripts, requirements and other supplemental specifications
- Knowledgeable of standard testing strategies, techniques and practices needed to successfully execute a test plan
- Ability to communicate (verbally and written) the current project status, related testing metrics and other concerns as related to the project testing
- Ability to understand and analyze business, functional, non-functional, technical and user interface (UI) requirements
- Testing aptitude, include debugging, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience testing Web and Mobile UIs and web services, including soak testing and stress testing
- Passion for engineering excellence through automation and process improvements
- Proficient with browser debug tools and API testing. (Firebug, Chrome Developer Tools)
- Good understanding of CSS/HTML/JavaScript, familiar with Web UI frameworks, JQuery, Infragistics, KendoUI, etc.)
