Sr. Data Engineer

Longmont, CO


Direct hire - Candidates must be eligible to work in the US on a W2 basis without sponsorship or visa transfer

 

Senior Data Engineer needed to support the Customer Insights and Business Intelligence group at our Longmont, CO location. This is a blended role of Business Intelligence and Data Engineering.   On site candidates are ideal, but remote working conditions will be considered.  Please apply with CSS Staffing and a recruiter will contact you shortly.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing, and deploying of assigned data processes, including ETL/ELT data pipelines, file feeds, reports, and dashboards; while managing and actively participating in the data governance process
  • The ideal candidate has a passion for data and BI, is an analytical thinker, and can act as Data Subject Matter expert
  • Need strong communication skills, a great collaborator and mentor, possesses a high level of experience with Hadoop and one who will complete tasks on-time with high quality results will be successful in this role

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, MIS, or a related field. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for education requirements
  • 5 years of experience with data analysis and migration to include experience in the analysis or design of applications or systems to store and extract data
  • 3 years of experience with telecommunications billing preferred
  • 3 years of experience with one or more of the following areas: software development, database development (Oracle preferred), business analysis, systems integration or system administration
  • 1 year of experience writing detailed test plans for small to medium sized projects preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with SQL
  • Any of the following scripting languages: Python, Pig, R, SAS, SPSS, Perl, C or any other scripting language
  • Ability to produce production ready code, deploy code into production
  • Any of the following Relational Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Informix, SQL Server, Oracle DB, Greenplum, Vertica, DB2 or any other RDBMS system
  • Hadoop environments and the tools associated within the environment such as: YARN, Sqoop, Impala, Flume, Hive, Dril, Hawk or any other similar tools
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Systems and/or Database Security mechanisms (Encryption, Data Loss Prevention, etc.) is highly preferred
