Sr. Engineer, Embedded Software

Omaha, NE

 

CSS Staffing has an open position with our direct client for a Senior C/C++ Engineer. This individual will be developing applications to be deployed into embedded systems and as such, would require a solid knowledge of hardware level interfaces across a wide variety of platforms.  Senior level design experience will be essential as well as in depth knowledge of the state of the art designing and developing for embedded systems to include modeling, QA, and cryptography. Direct hire - candidates must be eligible to work in the US on a W2 basis without sponsorship or visa transfer

 

Core Responsibilities:

·         Define technical approach for an entire product or major feature. Anticipate, identify and solves a wide array of issues where information is available

·         Provide support for board level software including FPGA, imaging, BIOS & device drivers

·         Execute study projects in support of design/architectural activities 

·         Plan/schedule medium to long term assignments and recommends appropriate resources for accomplishing objectives

·         Provide updates with respect to progress on tasks and assignments

·         Provide end user support as needed to resolve production issues

·         Provide design direction within software Engineering department and provides input into management hiring, development and performance feedback among Software Engineering staff

 

The ideal candidate will have:

6- 8 years experience including:  

·         C & C++ language skills, and FPGA programming experience in VHDL or Verilog desired

·         Significant experience with Integrated Development Environment for a variety of platforms, applicable to current company projects

·         Expertise in advanced programming techniques and practices for a variety of platforms, applicable to current company projects

·         Expertise with Agile software development methodology

·         Expertise of common data structures and algorithms

·         Expertise to apply Object Oriented Analysis and/or Structured Analysis

·         Experience with Quality Assurance processes

·         Experience with UML modeling

·         Experience with selection, administration and use of source code repositories

·         Experience designing and implementing cryptography libraries that meet NIST and FIPS guidelines

·         Ability to collaborate with a multifunctional team

·         Ability to analyze complex problems and design, implement and test appropriate solutions to problems

·         Ability to document and communicate technical information for consumption by client’s  managers and associates

·         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

·         Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry 

·         Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions

·         Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

·         Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form including abstract and/or concrete variables

·         Ability to represent the company on industry panels and work groups

·         Ability to represent the company as a technical resource regarding litigation issues

·         Licenses/Certifications: Advanced software certifications
