Sr. Network Engineer

Omaha, NE

 

Direct hire - Candidates must be eligible to work in the US on a W2 basis without sponsorship or visa transfer

Core Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and manage hardware and software resources necessary to maintain internal networked systems, as well connectivity to external customers
  • Deploy and maintain network resources including switches, firewalls, etc.
  • Implement VPN tunnels
  • Create technical documentation and diagrams on network environments
  • Design, engineer and implement large scale Datacenter networks across multiple geographic locations
  • Research, develop and deploy numerous technologies and network topologies in order to evolve and scale datacenters
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and remedy network-related issues
  • Participate in capacity/scalability planning
  • Build out solutions for large-scale monitoring, notifications, log aggregation, load distribution, etc.
  • Creates, modifies, prioritizes, and appropriately applies architectural principles for each unique project as assigned
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving security standards and network vulnerability/exploit information
  • Manage privileged access to network resources
  • Proactively patch all networking services to their latest stable releases
  • Work as part of a team to satisfy all organizational infrastructure needs

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other technology-related field or equivalent number of years of experience
  • Proven, expert-level knowledge of network configuration, network/web application scaling, automation and performance monitoring
  • Working knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, F5
  • 6 years minimum professional experience in a directly related role
  • 6 years minimum experience working in a network role supporting external customers
  • 5+ years of experience in TCP, IP[v4|v6], and related protocols
  • 5+ years of experience with MP-BGP
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment
  • In-depth understanding of network hardware platforms and their specifications in the datacenter space
  • Experience troubleshooting TCP performance issues in data-center and global networks, including knowledge of tcpdump/wireshark and similar tools
  • OS Networking level experience including familiarity with VLANS, sub-netting, network topologies and network issues
  • Strong knowledge of network management protocols, for example PTP, NTP, DNS and DHCP
  • Experience with traffic management, for example queuing, policing and shaping
  • Experience with layer 2 security features such as, port security, MACsec, ACL and private vlans
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols and features for example OSPF, ISIS, MBGP, IBGP, PBR and BFD
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 3 Overlay OTV, LISP
  • Strong knowledge of Multicast PIM, IGMP, RP, BSR
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 3 security CoPP, ACL's, DAI, ip source guard
  • Experience setting up and maintaining solutions based on client’s Cloud solution and external Cloud providers.
  • Basic working knowledge of the AWS and Azure cloud solutions and how to connect to them
