Applications Developer-COBOL-CICS  Senior

Lincoln, NE

 

CSS Staffing has an open position with our direct client for an Applications Developer-COBOL-CICS-Senior. Seeking dedicated Application Developers to join our team of performance driven professionals in helping to build the best of applications in support of our client’s business units. Client utilizes Agile development methodology.

 

Core Responsibilities:

·         Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business

·         Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services

·         Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects

·         Perform daily tasks of analysis, programming and testing as needed

·         Assist with; capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development

·         Maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Department's Information Systems

 

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

·         Must have most recent experience within the last year coding programs in COBOL

·         Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 accessing by programs, writing queries in QMF and creating tables is required

·         Experience with JCL and job scheduling is required

·         Experience in software development utilizing Agile with SCRUM is desired but not required

·         Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development

·         Skilled in troubleshooting and weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions

·         Extremely detailed oriented and able to follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

Experience with:

  • Cobol and CICS (candidates MUST be able to develop in COBOL AND CICS - no exceptions)
  • Job Control Language (JCL) and job scheduling
  • IBM mainframe (z/OS)
  • TSO
  • All aspects of the software development lifecycle and workflow
  • Visual Studio for source control
  • SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • DB2
  • QMF
  • XPEDITER

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing in MicroFocus Cobol will be given high preference.
  • Experience with application development in accounting/financial or transportation systems.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2012 and higher.
  • Experience with designing and building secure ASP.NET applications.
  • Experience with Web/Windows Services.
  • Experience with SSRS reports.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology of 2+ years.
  • Experience with Mainframe Migration (re-hosting or re-platform).
